  1. Sorry I'm not sure where to put this. Lucas chess is great:) A couple of things which I think would be useful but I'm not sure where to suggest. I don't think either is too complicated.

A kibitzer which gave stockfishes evaluation, broken down into its components, after just 1ply. The idea here is just to be able to train yourself to see its positional evaluation of the current position. There is a command line parameter to get stockfish to spit out a table like this so you just have to parse the table (or truthfully even just send it to text on the screen).

    2) For each kibitzer, given a stack of fen, output a set of flash cards of positions and the output of the kibitzer. Then you train the deck using spaced repetition. So for example you could get a bunch of decks of positions, and then train yourself to see the evaluation for each side. Or train yourself to see the 'plans' i.e. arrows indicating principal variations for each side etc... If its too annoying to write the spaced repetition part you could just output an anki deck.

  2. Will it hard to have a tournament feature in Lucas chess. Right now it's only between engines. I would like to have something like play against engine > Engines with fixed ELO.

  3. Hi, Lucas Monge. At first I would say a big Thank you for making a great software like Lucas Chess and also for implementing user's good suggestions into the program. I have also some suggestions for Lucas chess which are as follows :-
    1. I think it is better to make tactics training connected with Elo rating, For example if one solve some tactics then his Elo rating increases or decreases like chesstempo.com websites.
    2. Trans Siberian Railway is good method to envoke player for training, but I think if it is related to Elo rating then people love it more. For example, if I solve 200 tactics puzzle, 50 Endgames puzzle , 20 Games with Engine then I earn say something 100 or 150 Elo rating.

    Thanks.

    1. 1. Good idea, I have to think about a way to measure of each tactic.

      2. In relation to train my idea is that the goal is to make the road, get to the stations, only work not a measure.

  4. Thanks for the update, and all your hard work on the program, but 9.07c does NOT fix the "Unable to access internet" problem. I'm on windows8, and have changed the firewallsettings.
I am also experiencing problems with "homemade" training by repetition section - very often I end up with the training.sessions becomeing unresponsive or it plays the same position over and over again (even if I solve them right ;))

  5. Hello,
Thanks for this software, i've been using it since a year or so.
I've recently changed my laptop , this one run on windows 7 and is a amd.

Previously I was able to play against an engine who would play each move in 10 second hile i was allowing myself an hour.
But now i can't , the software doesn't allow me to make my engine play in a certain amount of time anymore. I'm just able to adjust how deep it search.

Is there a problem with my new configuration ? is it an issue you already encountered ?

    thanks

    1. There isn´t.
      I don´t know Mac world.
The source (python and libraries) is theoretically compatible, it is also necessary to add some engines, and to compile some C code.
The alternative is to use an emulator like Wine, Parallel, ...

  7. Hi Lucas: Thank you for this wonderful program! It ranks as #1 in my list of useful PC programs.

Suggestion for Play Like A GrandMaster... It would be great if I could use my own pgn of instructive games that I gathered over time. The games were played by a specific player but it is not downloadable from the internet like the other GM games.

  9. Hi, I can´t replicate the problem, I have tested my old xp pc and a virtual machine and works,

Perhaps a clean installation in a temporary folder could be an idea to test.

  10. I just downloaded lucas chess. It lags a lot , it gets stuck after a few moves into the game. When the tutor suggests the " there are 4 best moves " or whatever... the piece i moved isn't centered in the middle of the square but is stuck on the border of the square indicating the lag. I play against Stockfish 6 , depth : 10 / Best move. Do these settings require top notch desktops and cpu's? My pc isn't slow , but itsn't the most modern thing one can get nowadays. So I guess , my question is , is there anything I can do to make the lag go away and enjoy the program on my desktop?

  11. Hi. I just downloaded Lucas chess. I can't enjoy it because it lags and gets stuck after a couple of moves into a game. The first 2-3 moves are quick , then when the tutor starts suggesting , the piece I moved gets stuck on the border of a square and isn't set into the middle of the square , so the move isn't registered because the program stuck. I play against Stockfish 6 , depth : 10 , best move , and my desktop isn't slow , but isn't super fast by modern standards. I have Windows 7. What can I do to make it not lag? Thanks

    1. For some reason tutor engine doesn't work.
You could try to launch stockfish engine from its folder, \EnginesWindows\stockfish\Windows\stockfish-6-32.exe
If it works, Explorer of windows, right click over the , the Security tab, and assign all permisions to all users.

  12. Hi Lucas, thanks for a great program again. Another concept that I would like to see implemented is , the value of pieces according to the position. You have then to quess what pieces as the most valuble in the current position.

LINUX - First binary version

The first official binary version of Lucas Chess on Linux has just been released. It has only been made possible by the great work done by Laudecir Daniel , choosing and compiling the 67 engines, as well as laying the groundwork so that the binaries can be more widely used and others such as shortcut creation, installation scripts, ...... In addition,  Graham O'Neill  has provided Linux-specific drivers for several digital boards. This version has two limitations : 64-bit Linux OS only. Minimum GNU libc version: 2.26 (ldd --version shows it) Installation has been made as simple as possible: The installer is a .sh file, generated with the  makeself  tool, and can be downloaded from: SourceForge , GitHub The file must be run from a terminal with user permissions only: sh ./LucasChessR123_LINUX.sh Launches a GUI with very basic options: Install: Installs in LucasChessR folder inside the home user folder. Generates a shortcut in Applications > Games Launch the application at the end
