    1. I think there is a bug in the database feature: it won't let me remove games. When I try to remove a game a message appears "One moment pleaase..." and nothing happens! This message just remains forever and if I close and re-open Lucas Chess the game I tried to remove is still there.

    2. Also if I try to add a game to the database and paste PGN it doesn't work (a message appears near the bottom of the game window for a split second & disappears again). Even if I click Cancel a blank game gets created, which is what led me to want to delete a game from the DB in the first place.

    3. TOOLS->Engine->STS Test Suite
Before running a test for a specific engine, If I click "Hide Board"(Chessboard disappear) and then I select "Show Board" nothing happens(No board).

    4. Hi, Lucas, as for "result of Analysis" attributes, I think that signed "difference" would be more effective than abs("difference").

      1. The effect is in Black then all values are negative. Difference perhaps must be Lost points.

    5. Hi, Lucas,
It is possible to play against an engine with no opening book?
I've tried it after unchecking [INITIAL MOVES]->BOOK, but nevertheless LC play the book.
I've even created an empty book.bin as a workaround to bypass the problem, but it doesn't work too.

      1. Fixed:2b, you could select an empty pgn to create an empty book to use in Playing against any engine.

    6. It doesn't work all the same...
      LC play anyway the book.
I've created a polyglot book(bin) from an empty pgn, but without success...
      It plays the book...

      1. If you want, you can test a little change I have done :
        https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0D6J3YCrUouVEFUdjRnZ3dmb0E/edit?usp=sharing
It download library.zip, you need to change file with the same name in the LC folder.

      2. Downloaded: now it works! :-)
        Tnx!
The fix will be integrated in the next release I suppose...

      3. It is changed in the code I use.
I have to analyze if there is collateral problems, although I think there is.

    7. Hi, Lucas, in "Training->training ratings" features I have the feeling that version 9step2b thinking time is much shorter than version 8.09 one...

      Best regards.

      1. Yes, because while the user is thinking, the engine is thinking too.
Engine has a minimum time to work is 5", but not maximum.

    8. Hi Lucas,

There appears to be a bug in this mode when doing full game analysis of a PGN game. Occasionally, it will display a move as being a blunder because it allows a mate in one, even though it does not allow a mate in one at all. I have taken a screenshot of one such example of this, though I have seen it several times:

    9. Probably the problem is the Stockfish engine, which generates some wrong answers. I need the pgn and configuration analysis.

Also the type of pieces you use and the configuration of the board, if possible, I like a lot.

    10. The pieces are called FritzSWS and you can find them here: http://gorgonian.weebly.com/lucas-chess.html

I will send you the board texture, too, if you want, but if you go to the BabasChess downloads page on my site there are a bunch of board textures you can download and it's one of them (called XAutumnCherryLight).

As for the game, here is the moves section of the PGN:

      1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 c5 4.dxc5 d4 5.Nb5 Bxc5 6.Nf3 Nc6 7.Bf4 Bb6 8.Nd6+ Ke7 9.Nc4 f6 10.Bd6+ Kf7 11.e5 f5 12.Qd2 h6 13.Bd3 Nge7 14.O-O-O Bc7 15.h3 b5 16.Bxc7 Qxc7 17.Nd6+ Kf8 18.Nxb5 Qb8 19.Nbxd4 Nxe5 20.Nxe5 Qxe5 21.Nf3 Qf6 22.Bc4 Rb8 23.Bb3 Kf7 24.Qd6 Bb7 25.Ne5+ Kg8 26.Qxb8+ 1-0

but I just noticed that Lucas Chess misread O-O-O as O-O! I don't think that affected the M1 error, though. Analysis settings were Stockfish 5, 10 seconds per move, Multi-PV=3, Normal priority, Do not scan book moves based on GM_1990-2012.bin, start from end of game.

      1. Hi Phillip, I have uploaded a new step, with a try to fix the problem that I believe is a stockfish bug.
There is no problem to read pgn you send me, in relation to O-O-O problem, send me please, the pgn that have the problem, to fix it.
And thanks for the links to graphics references.

    11. I haven't been able to duplicate the O-O/O-O-O bug. Not sure what the exact source was I used to paste the pgn into Lucas Chess, but I will keep trying to figure out how it could've happened. Thanks.

    12. I played Lucas Chess in a Intel Celeron (R) 2.2ghz, and when I try to use help, Stockfish just bug, consume a lot of memory, and not respond. Its normal? and about texture on board? its posssible? thanks, I love LC, its simple and useful.

      1. You could try to exec Stockfish in its folder, EnginesWindows/stockfish/Windows, then exec stockfish-6-32.exe, then it works ?

    LINUX - First binary version

The first official binary version of Lucas Chess on Linux has just been released. It has only been made possible by the great work done by Laudecir Daniel , choosing and compiling the 67 engines, as well as laying the groundwork so that the binaries can be more widely used and others such as shortcut creation, installation scripts, ...... In addition,  Graham O'Neill  has provided Linux-specific drivers for several digital boards. This version has two limitations : 64-bit Linux OS only. Minimum GNU libc version: 2.26 (ldd --version shows it) Installation has been made as simple as possible: The installer is a .sh file, generated with the  makeself  tool, and can be downloaded from: SourceForge , GitHub The file must be run from a terminal with user permissions only: sh ./LucasChessR123_LINUX.sh Launches a GUI with very basic options: Install: Installs in LucasChessR folder inside the home user folder. Future version 10 step 05: Scanner of positions

Some days ago Juan Carlos Antón, head of UNED chess school , does give me permission to include tactical positions from the PDFs on the downloads of UNED web, which I consider very educational. The problem is there is no possibility of obtaining  original fens. The solution to ease my work, has been to create something like an OCR of image positions, which at this specific case is working very well. Only three concepts are handled : mark, deduce, and learn. First, mark the board, the next step is to deduce, if there are errors the user corrects them manually and asked the program to learn from them. At the beginning there are quite a few errors, but less and less. To mark the Board a transparent window is launched that occupies the desk and lets see the PDF and select a position. It is selected with the mouse by dragging a corner to the other, and it is fitted with the arrow keys. At the end the Enter key is pressed to accept the selected and continue in the program wi...
